To offer a unique experience to commuters, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has introduced interactive museum exhibits at the Shivaji Stadium Metro Station. The initiative was inaugurated on Wednesday by Vikas Kumar, the Managing Director of DMRC, along with Dr. Shalini Singh, the first lady of DMRC.
The highlight of the new exhibits is a simulator that provides visitors with an immersive experience of 'driving' a Metro train. Consisting of a screen and a joystick, the simulator allows participants to feel like they are sitting in a train pilot's seat. By pulling the lever, their actions are mirrored on the screen, creating a lifelike encounter with simulated visuals.
One of the prominent features of the interactive display is a journey through the history of Delhi Metro, showcasing its growth and technological advancements over the years. Through historic photos and a visually engaging presentation, visitors can navigate the Metro's significant milestones.
Additionally, an interactive digital display mounted on a kiosk takes visitors through the DMRC's journey since its inception in 1995, covering the groundbreaking ceremony on October 1, 1998, to the opening of its first corridor in December 2002.
To make the museum experience more engaging, DMRC has also introduced a tourist map on a digital display. This map serves as a user-friendly guide for tourists, highlighting popular destinations and heritage sites in Delhi. An online quiz about Delhi Metro is also available through a kiosk, offering a fun and interactive way for people to test their knowledge.
The Shivaji Stadium Metro Station now features a large screen displaying the metro network, marking nearby tourist sites with clickable icons. Detailed information about these sites can be accessed by clicking on the respective icons. Additionally, a working model depicting a train, underground and elevated tracks, bridges, and viaducts has been installed in the station's interactive zone.
During the inauguration, a demonstration featuring sniffer dogs deployed as part of the CISF security cover was also held. The exhibits at Shivaji Stadium complement the existing museum at Patel Chowk station, which has been a special attraction since 2009 but faces space constraints.
Looking ahead, DMRC plans to establish a larger Metro Museum at the Supreme Court Metro station on the Blue Line. This new museum will not only house the existing exhibits from Shivaji Stadium but also introduce several new attractions for visitors and commuters alike.
In essence, the addition of interactive museum exhibits at Shivaji Stadium Metro Station aims to enhance the overall commuting experience, providing a blend of informative and entertaining features for Delhi Metro users.
