The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has entered into an agreement with IIT Hyderabad's Technology Innovation Hub for Autonomous Navigation, also known as TiHAN. This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to explore new technologies that can support advanced autonomous navigation systems. The collaboration focuses on creating safer, smarter, and more

modern mobility solutions for cities.
Key Goal of the Partnership
A key goal of the partnership is to improve last-mile connectivity in large metropolitan regions, where many commuters struggle to travel smoothly from metro stations to their final destinations. Moreover, the project will look at how similar solutions can be applied to smaller Tier II and Tier III cities, where public transport infrastructure is still growing, and modern technology can make a huge difference.
Both DMRC and TiHAN bring different strengths to the collaboration. TiHAN specialises in autonomous navigation technologies, such as systems that allow vehicles, robots, and drones to move independently without human control. DMRC brings its expertise in urban transit operations, passenger mobility, and the challenges faced in real-world transportation systems. By working together, they plan to develop and test platforms that can operate on their own and gather useful data to improve public transport.
The MoU marks the beginning of joint research, trials, and innovation. It was formally signed by Shobhan Chaudhuri, Advisor for Research and Development at DMRC, and Dr. Santosh Reddy, the Hub Executive Officer at TiHAN, IIT Hyderabad. This partnership is expected to open opportunities for new technologies such as autonomous shuttle services, intelligent mobility devices, and improved data-based planning.
