The 23.6-km Delhi Metro Golden Line is expected to open in phases. The 8.4-km Tughlaqabad-Sangam Vihar stretch is likely to open first, with operations expected to begin by December 2026, and will have four stations: Tughlaqabad, Tughlaqabad Railway Colony, Anandmayee Marg Junction and Sangam Vihar.
Delhi Metro Golden Line
Construction of the Golden Line began in June 2022 as part of Phase 4 expansion. The Golden Line will connect Tughlaqabad with Aerocity through 15 stations. The corridor will have 11 underground stations and four elevated stations, featuring a 2.4-km elevated double-decker flyover between Sangam Vihar and Ambedkar Nagar. In June 2025, the DMRC completed an underground tunnel between Maa Anandmayee Marg and Tughlaqabad Railway Colony station. The tunnel was constructed at an average depth of 18 metres, with 566 reinforced concrete rings installed.
According to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), more than 83 per cent of the civil work on the Aerocity-Tughlaqabad corridor has been completed. Of the four stations on the Tughlaqabad-Sangam Vihar stretch, three Tughlaqabad, Tughlaqabad Railway Colony, and Anandmayee Marg Junction will be underground.
The Golden Line was originally called the Silver Line before it was renamed in January 2024. It will provide interchange facilities with the Violet Line at Tughlaqabad, the Airport Express Line at Delhi Aerocity, the Yellow Line at Chhatarpur and the Brown Line at Saket G-Block. The corridor will run with 13 six-coach driverless trains manufactured by Alstom which have already started arriving at the Sarita Vihar depot, with deliveries beginning in A.
