The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, on Sunday, during a programme held at the Delhi Metro headquarters, announced a partnership with Airtel Payments Bank to introduce new co-branded RuPay "On-The-Go" cards for metro passengers. These cards are linked to the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) network, allowing people to make easy

and cashless payments while travelling on metro trains, buses, and other public transport systems across India.
Delhi Metro's On-the-Go Cards
According to DMRC, the new cards will be available in two forms: debit cards and prepaid payment cards for mass transit systems. With these cards, passengers can travel across different metro networks and transport systems in multiple cities using a single card, and commuters will no longer need separate cards for different transport services.
Why is the Step Taken?
The move is part of DMRC's efforts to promote the use of NCMC cards instead of the existing "One Metro" cards, which work only on the Delhi Metro network. DMRC officials said the new system supports the Government of India's "One Nation, One Card" initiative, which aims to create a unified and simple payment system for public transport throughout the country.
On-the-Go Cards Availability & its Benefits
Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director of Corporate Communications at DMRC, said the cards will be available at all Delhi Metro stations within the next 10 days, making them easily accessible for commuters.
He also said passengers can recharge the cards online anytime using the DMRC app or the Airtel app. This will help reduce long queues at metro stations for card top-ups. Existing MetroCards will continue to work normally, while DMRC plans to encourage more commuters to shift towards NCMC cards in the future.
