A tragic explosion took place in Delhi on Sunday evening, killing eight people and injuring several others. The blast happened in a parked i20 car near the Red Fort area, causing panic and prompting tighter security across the city. The incident also affected regular travel, with delays in metro and

road transport services. The Delhi Traffic Police has asked commuters to avoid certain areas and follow the new traffic advisories issued for November 11.
Delhi Metro Services Today
While metro services remain open, trains on the Chandni Chowk route are running slower than usual. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has not yet released an official statement about the disruption. Meanwhile, traffic on Netaji Subhash Marg, between Chatta Rail Cut and Subhash Marg Cut, has been closed in both directions from 6:00 a.m. until further notice. Police have advised people to take alternate routes for a smoother commute.
When Did the Blast Happen?
The blast occurred around 6:55 p.m. near Gate No. 1 of Lal Qila Metro Station on 10 November, close to Gauri Shankar Mandir. The Delhi Fire Services sent seven fire engines to control the fire, while teams from the Delhi Police Special Cell and Anti-Terror Squad began investigating the cause. The injured have been admitted to LNJP Hospital. Eyewitnesses described the explosion as extremely loud and terrifying.
Delhi Police's Suspicions
Police believe the blast may have been caused by a sticky bomb placed in the car. The incident came just hours after a major recovery of 360 kg of ammonium nitrate and weapons in Faridabad, linked to a Kashmiri doctor. Security agencies are now investigating possible connections to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group. They are also searching for Dr. Umar, a suspect linked to a recently busted JeM module, to find out if the explosion was part of a larger terror plot.
