Early Friday morning, a tragic incident occurred at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). Just a few months after its refurbishment, a portion of the roof at Terminal-1 collapsed due to heavy rain. This unfortunate event resulted in the death of one person and injuries to four others. As a result, flight departures from Terminal-1 have been suspended until 2 pm.

Around 5 am, heavy rain caused the roof of Terminal-1 at IGI Airport to collapse. The falling roof crushed cars, including taxis, parked in the pick-up and drop-off area. According to Delhi Fire Services (DFS) officials, a search operation was conducted to ensure no one was trapped in the damaged vehicles.

- Incident: The roof collapse affected not only the roof sheet but also the support beams, causing significant damage to the vehicles.

- Casualties: One person died, and four others were injured in the incident.

- Flight Operations: All departures from Terminal-1 have been temporarily halted, but flight arrivals remain unaffected.

Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu is personally monitoring the situation, and rescue operations are ongoing. Minister Kinjarapu announced that passengers affected by the shutdown of Terminal-1 will receive a full refund for their canceled flights. Additionally, the family of the deceased will receive compensation of 2 million rupees, and the injured will receive 300,000 rupees.

Passengers who were already inside Terminal-1 managed to board their flights before departures were completely suspended.
