As Delhi's air quality plummets, reaching "severe" or "very poor" levels, concerns about air pollution and smog are once again at the forefront. The situation in the National Capital Region (NCR) has been deteriorating due to a combination of factors, including stubble burning, vehicular emissions, construction activities, and unfavorable weather conditions. The alarming Air Quality Index (AQI) categorizes this situation as a health emergency for the residents.
To combat this pressing issue, a team of scientists from IIT Kanpur has put forth an innovative plan to create artificial rain in Delhi. The concept is rooted in the technology of cloud seeding, which they have been researching for several years.
