The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) has announced a power shutdown in several parts of Chennai on Thursday, November 13, due to regular maintenance work, which will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. However, officials mentioned that the electricity supply will be restored earlier
if the maintenance work is completed ahead of schedule. According to a notice from the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, the shutdown is necessary to ensure smooth and safe functioning of the power network. During this time, residents in the affected areas are advised to plan their activities accordingly and expect temporary disruptions in power supply.
Areas to be Affected in Chennai
The areas that will face power cuts include Mango Forest, Avadi Road, Magizham Avenue, Pooncholai Road, MSS Nagar, Atco Nagar, Mettu Street, Sippy Nagar, Father Periyar Nagar, Kamaraj Nagar, Murugapillai Nagar, Gangai Amman Kovil Street, Vinayaka Nagar, Korimedu, Bazaar Street, Kannampulla Chetty Street, Amman Kovil Street, and Kundrathur Road.
In Mathur, the affected locations include MMDA 1st to 3rd Main Road, Indian Bank area, and TNHP Lakeview Residence.

Meanwhile, Chennai residents also experienced heavy rainfall and strong winds on Tuesday, which caused waterlogging in several parts of the city. The weather department recorded a maximum temperature of 29°C and a minimum temperature of around 26°C. Officials have advised fishermen to avoid venturing into water bodies for the next few days due to rough conditions.
TANGEDCO has assured residents that the maintenance work is part of its regular efforts to improve power reliability and reduce future outages. Once the work is completed, the normal power supply will be restored as soon as possible.
