Southern Railway has announced special summer trains between Chennai Egmore and Kanyakumari to manage the extra passenger rush during the holiday season. The trains will help passengers travelling between Chennai and the southern districts during the busy summer vacation period. The special services will also stop at important stations, including

Srirangam and Tiruchirappalli Junction.
Chennai-Kanyakumari Special Train
According to a railway release, Train No. 06045 Chennai Egmore-Kanyakumari Superfast Special will run on May 15, 22, 29, and June 5. The train will depart from Chennai Egmore at 11.50 pm every Friday and reach Kanyakumari at 1 pm the next day. In the return direction, Train No. 06046 Kanyakumari-Chennai Egmore Superfast Special will run on May 17, 24, 31, and June 7. The train will leave Kanyakumari at 11.25 pm every Sunday and arrive at Chennai Egmore at 11.30 am the following day.
Major Stoppages
During the journey, the train is expected to reach Srirangam at around 5 am and Trichy Junction between 5.40 am and 5.45 am. Apart from these stations, the train will also stop at several major stations, including Villupuram, Ariyalur, Madurai, and Tirunelveli, making travel easier for passengers across Tamil Nadu.
While returning, the train is expected to stop at Trichy Junction around 5.45 am and at Srirangam around 6 am. These special services are expected to benefit travellers visiting their hometowns, tourist destinations, and religious places during the summer holidays.
Train Features & Advisory
Southern Railway stated that the trains will have different types of coaches to suit the needs of passengers, including AC two-tier coaches, AC three-tier coaches, sleeper class coaches, general second-class coaches, and special coaches designed for Divyangjan passengers. Railway officials also announced that reservations for these trains opened at 8 am on Saturday. Passengers have been advised to book tickets early due to expected heavy demand during the summer travel season.
