Chennai Airport is preparing for a large number of travelers during the upcoming summer holidays by adding 206 extra flights. These include 42 international and 164 domestic flights. The summer season brings an increase in passengers as schools and colleges go on break, leading to more people traveling for vacations or to visit family. Usually, Chennai Airport handles around 50,000 passengers daily, but this number is expected to rise to nearly 60,000.

More Flights for International Travelers
Several airlines have expanded their international flight schedules from Chennai. Air India has increased its flights to Sri Lanka from 7 to 10 per week, while SpiceJet has added 7 more weekly flights to the same destination. Alliance Airlines has resumed its services between Chennai and Jaffna with 7 flights per week after a temporary suspension due to bad weather.
Air India Express has also expanded its international flights, adding more flights to Kuwait, Muscat, and Dammam. Oman Air has increased its flights to Muscat from 11 to 14 per week. Gulf Airways is introducing more flights to Bahrain, and Bangla Airlines has expanded its services to Dhaka.
Increased Domestic Connectivity
To accommodate more travelers within India, airlines are adding more flights on domestic routes. Air India has increased its weekly flights to Bengaluru and Delhi. The airline has also doubled its services to Madurai and expanded its flights between Chennai and Mumbai.
Air India Express is introducing new flights to Varanasi and Noida, while also adding more flights to Kochi, Guwahati, and Hyderabad. IndiGo has improved its services to Thoothukudi, Tiruchy, Kochi, and Ahmedabad. SpiceJet is adding flights to Ayodhya, Kochi, Hyderabad, and Madurai.
Managing the Peak Season Demand
The deployment of 164 extra domestic flights from Chennai is a key part of the airport's strategy to handle the increased demand during the summer season. Some of these flights are already operational, while others will be introduced in stages based on passenger needs.
With the rise in travelers, this increase in both domestic and international flights will ensure a smooth and comfortable journey for passengers. More flight options will make it easier for people to travel without long waiting times or flight shortages.
As Chennai Airport prepares for the summer rush, the additional flights are expected to help manage the large number of passengers efficiently. This initiative reflects the airport's commitment to providing better connectivity and a smoother travel experience during the peak travel season. Travelers can now enjoy more flight options and easier access to various destinations, making their summer journeys more convenient and enjoyable.
