At least four people have died, and others were injured after Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district on Thursday afternoon. The derailment occurred around 2:35 pm, causing multiple coaches to overturn. Emergency services were promptly deployed to the site for rescue operations.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his sorrow over the incident and directed immediate deployment of rescue personnel. He also instructed officials to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured passengers. Emergency helpline numbers have been issued for assistance.

Impact on Train Services

The accident has significantly disrupted train services. At least 13 trains have been affected, with many being diverted or cancelled. Some of the diverted trains include the Katihar-Amritsar Express and Guwahati-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Express, which are now running via Mankapur-Ayodhya-Barabanki.

Other affected trains include the Mumbai Gorakhpur Antyodaya Express, Lucknow Barauni Express, and Jammu Tawi Guwahati Lohit Express. The New Delhi Darbhanga Bihar Sampark Kranti Express is also among those running on a diverted route due to the derailment.

Rescue Operations Underway

A 40-member medical team along with 15 ambulances has been dispatched to the accident site. Senior railway and local administration officials are overseeing rescue efforts. Medical vans have also reached the location to provide immediate assistance to those injured.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak confirmed that four people lost their lives in the accident. Relief Commissioner GS Naveen Kumar reported that 20 individuals sustained injuries and are receiving medical attention.

The relief commissioner's office has also provided helpline numbers specifically for Gonda (8957400965) and Lucknow (8957409292). These lines are available for anyone needing assistance or information regarding the accident.

The cause of the derailment remains unknown as investigations continue. Authorities are working diligently to restore normalcy and ensure passenger safety in the aftermath of this tragic event.
