Chaitra Ram Navami 2025: Ayodhya’s Surya Tilak Ceremony and Statewide Recitations Planned

Uttar Pradesh is preparing for a grand and spiritual celebration of Chaitra Ram Navami under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. A 24-hour continuous recitation of the Ramcharitmanas will take place across all districts, starting on the afternoon of April 5 and concluding at noon on April 6. One of the most awaited moments of the festival will be the Surya Tilak ceremony at Shri Ramjanmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya, drawing thousands of devotees. To uphold the sanctity of the occasion, all meat shops will remain closed on April 6, and a 500-meter ban on meat sales near religious sites will be enforced throughout the nine-day festival.

Special Arrangements for Devotees

Chief Minister Adityanath has instructed officials to make flawless arrangements for the large number of devotees visiting important religious sites such as Devipatan Temple in Balrampur and Vindhyavasini Devi Dham in Mirzapur. He has emphasized the following:

- Comfortable queuing arrangements: Jute mats will be placed to help devotees stand in long queues under the hot sun.
- Drinking water and shade: Clean drinking water will be provided, and canopies will be set up to protect pilgrims from the heat.
- Crowd control measures: Local police and security teams will manage the crowds to ensure safety and maintain order.

Focus on Safety and Cleanliness

To maintain a clean and sacred environment, the Urban Development and Rural Development Departments will conduct special cleanliness drives around temples and religious sites. Additional sanitation workers will be deployed where needed.

The Chief Minister has also ordered an uninterrupted power supply across the state during Chaitra Navratri. Police officials have been directed to closely monitor crowded areas to prevent any disturbances and ensure a peaceful celebration.

Ban on Meat Shops and Illegal Slaughterhouses

In accordance with orders issued in 2014 and 2017, Chief Minister Adityanath has strictly banned the sale of meat and animal slaughter near religious sites. The Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department, Amrit Abhijat, has instructed all District Magistrates, Police Commissioners, and Municipal Commissioners to shut down illegal slaughterhouses immediately.

To ensure the enforcement of these regulations, district-level committees have been formed, including members from the police, Pollution Control Board, animal husbandry, transport, labour, health, and food safety departments. These committees will take strict action against violations under the UP Municipal Corporation Act, 1959, and the Food Safety Acts of 2006 and 2011.

With these comprehensive measures, Uttar Pradesh is set to observe a peaceful and spiritually uplifting Chaitra Ram Navami. The state government's efforts to enhance safety, cleanliness, and order reflect its commitment to ensuring a divine experience for pilgrims and devotees. The Surya Tilak ceremony in Ayodhya and the continuous Ramcharitmanas recitation will make this year's Ram Navami truly special for everyone.
