Bengaluru Metro Unveils Early Morning Trains on Yellow Line to Ease Monday Crowds

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) has decided to start two early morning trains on the Yellow Line every Monday. This change was made after passengers held a protest at the R.V. Road Metro Station on November 17. The new trains will run at 5.05 a.m. and 5.35 a.m.

from both R.V. Road and Bommasandra. On other weekdays, trains will continue to start at 6 a.m., and on Sundays, the first train will be at 7 a.m.

Why Was the Decision Taken?

According to BMRCL officials, the major reason for this decision is to manage Monday morning crowds better. Many people return to Bengaluru early on Mondays after spending the weekend in their hometowns. Since other metro lines start early, but the Yellow Line does not, commuters were unable to complete their journey. With the new timing, these passengers can now switch to the Yellow Line without waiting.

Commuters' Opinions

Commuters have welcomed the new timings. Ravi Kishan from Bommanahalli said the early trains will help those who return to the city before sunrise. Another commuter, Pavana K. from Kudlu Gate, said that while the earlier start is helpful, the frequency of trains must also improve. She feels the metro should start early every day, not only on Mondays.

The protest on November 17 caused delays during peak hour. Passengers arriving from the Green Line, which starts at 5 a.m., blocked train doors at R.V. Road when they found the Yellow Line would begin only at 6 a.m. Police had to intervene to clear the situation.

Bengaluru Metro's Yellow Line

The Yellow Line, connecting R.V. Road to Bommasandra, currently runs trains every 15 minutes during peak time. It was opened to the public in August, but faces heavy crowding due to fewer trains. BMRCL has been steadily adding more trainsets, and a sixth one is expected in December, which will help reduce waiting time and ease rush-hour congestion.
