Bihar is witnessing significant infrastructure development, according to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Addressing Parliament, he stated that Indian Railways is actively driving multiple projects across the state. A key highlight is the redevelopment of 98 railway stations, which will be upgraded with modern facilities to enhance passenger comfort and services.

In addition, Vaishnaw announced the introduction of eight new Vande Bharat trains in Bihar. This includes five Amrit Bharat Express trains and one Namo Bharat, all designed to offer affordable, efficient, and modern travel options. These efforts aim to strengthen connectivity and elevate the overall rail travel experience for the people of Bihar.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many long-pending railway projects in Bihar are now being successfully completed. Notable among these are the construction of new bridges in Munger and Patna, fulfilling long-standing demands and significantly improving transport infrastructure in the state.
He also revealed that 218 flyovers and underpasses have been constructed across Bihar, helping to ease traffic congestion and boost intra-state connectivity. Furthermore, the launch of new Amrit Bharat Express trains-connecting Patna to Delhi, Darbhanga to Delhi, and Bengaluru-highlights the government's continued focus on enhancing Bihar's railway network and improving travel convenience for its citizens.
Surveys and Future Plans
In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed that Indian Railways has sanctioned 892 surveys over the four-year period spanning 2022-23 to the current financial year (FY26). These include 267 surveys for new railway lines, 11 for gauge conversion, and 614 for doubling existing tracks, collectively covering a length of 61,462 kilometres.
Vaishnaw credited the rapid progress in Bihar's railway infrastructure to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's strategic vision. He emphasized that these initiatives are not just about enhancing infrastructure but are also aimed at meeting the aspirations of the people of Bihar.
This comprehensive development plan highlights Bihar's growing importance in the national infrastructure landscape. The ongoing projects are tailored to deliver improved rail services, with a particular focus on benefiting economically weaker sections of society.
