Residents across several parts of Bhopal will experience scheduled power outages on May 1, 2026, as the electricity department undertakes essential line maintenance work. The shutdown has been planned in phases across different localities, with varying time slots to minimise disruption while ensuring system upgrades and repairs are completed efficiently.

The power supply will be temporarily suspended for durations ranging from two to six hours, depending on the area and maintenance requirements. Authorities have advised residents to plan their day accordingly, especially in areas facing longer outages.
Areas Affected from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Power supply will remain disrupted in Hathai Kheda and surrounding regions. This includes Hathai Kheda Marghat, Hrishipuram, IVRI Colony, Hathai Kheda Church area, Corporate Colony, Gupta Colony, Press Colony, IVRI and Old Marghat. These localities are expected to face one of the longest outage windows during the day.
Areas Affected from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Several residential and developing neighbourhoods will also be impacted during mid-day hours. These include Akriti Green Neev, IBD Royal, Shiva Angan, Sagar Lifestyle, Fortune Landmark, Oracle, HTC Opel Orris and nearby areas. Residents in these zones may experience a four-hour interruption.
Areas Affected from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM
A shorter outage window has been scheduled for Housing Board Colony, Gaurav Nagar, Daulatpur, Chichli Village, DPS School surroundings and Vipassana Centre areas. The supply cut in these locations is expected to last approximately 90 minutes.

Key commercial and central areas of Bhopal will also face temporary disruption. These include Dr. Ajwani Hospital vicinity, Paliwal Nursing Home area, Bank of India (Hamidia Road), Ibrahim Ganj, Sajjad Colony, Bal Vihar, Dawa Bazaar, Bus Stand, Chetan Market and Malik Market.

Apart from the above, power cuts will also be observed in Gammon Mall area (10:00 AM to 1:00 PM), Van Prabandhak area (10:00 AM to 12:00 PM), and Bhilkheda village and nearby regions (10:00 AM to 2:00 PM).
Advisory for Residents
The electricity department has stated that the maintenance work is necessary to improve overall supply stability and reduce future breakdowns. Residents are advised to charge essential devices in advance, store water if required, and plan work schedules around the outage timings.
