A major step was taken in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, as a Metro trial run between Rani Kamlapati and AIIMS station was successfully completed on Tuesday. This was the first time a Metro train ran on this route, passing through key locations such as the Railway Over Bridge (RoB), DRM Office, and Alkapuri station before reaching AIIMS station. The trial took place at 5 pm and demonstrated progress in the city's urban transport system.

Metro Train Testing Details
During the initial trial, the Metro trains operated at speeds between 10 and 20 km per hour. In future tests, the speed will be increased step by step. Each Metro train consists of three coaches, each measuring about 22 metres in length and 20.9 metres in width. The trains are designed to reach a maximum speed of 90 km per hour.
The Managing Director of MP Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL), S Krishna Chaitanya, praised the successful trial and congratulated the Metro officials for their efforts. This achievement brings Bhopal closer to having a fully operational Metro system, which will improve public transport in the city.
Visit from the 16th Finance Commission
While the Metro trial was taking place, Bhopal also welcomed the 16th Finance Commission, led by Arvind Panagariya. The Commission's visit started on Tuesday and included tours of important historical sites like the Stupas at Sanchi, built during the reign of King Ashoka, and the famous caves at Udaigiri.
After exploring these cultural landmarks, the Commission held discussions with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at the CM House. The main focus of their visit, which will continue until March 7, is to assess how the state is managing and using Central funds. Their evaluation will help in deciding how financial resources should be allocated in the future to support development projects in Madhya Pradesh.
The Metro trial run and the visit of the Finance Commission highlight a period of major progress in Madhya Pradesh. These events show the government's efforts to improve both infrastructure and financial management in the state. With better transportation and proper financial planning, residents of Bhopal can look forward to a more developed and connected city in the near future.
