Delhi's first double-decker metro viaduct between Bhajanpura and Yamuna Vihar stations is now ready for metro train movement. However, the ramp that will allow vehicles to use the lower deck of the structure will be completed later this year. Another similar double-decker viaduct between Azadpur and Ashok Vihar stations is

also expected to be ready this year. At the same time, work is progressing on a third double-decker viaduct on the upcoming Golden Line.
Three Double-Decker Viaducts
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), along with the Delhi government, is building three double-decker viaducts across the city. In these structures, metro trains will run on the upper level, while road traffic will move on the lower level.
Bhajanpura-Yamuna Vihar Viaduct
The 1.4 km-long Bhajanpura-Yamuna Vihar viaduct is part of the 12.3 km Maujpur-Majlis Park corridor, which will extend the Pink Line. This project is expected to change the look of northeast Delhi, as it passes through crowded residential areas. DMRC officials said construction on the corridor is complete, trial runs are underway, and safety inspections have already been carried out. The road ramp work was delayed due to pending tree-cutting permission, which has now been granted, and the ramp will be finished this year.
Second Double-Decker Viaduct
Once the Maujpur-Majlis Park stretch opens, the Pink Line will become Delhi Metro's first circular route. The second double-decker viaduct, measuring 2.2 km, lies between Azadpur and Ashok Vihar on the Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg corridor, part of the Magenta Line extension. Foundation work and girder installation are ongoing, and this structure is also expected to be ready this year, though the full corridor will open in phases next financial year.
Longest Viaduct
The longest viaduct, at 2.4 km, is between Sangam Vihar and Ambedkar Nagar on the Golden Line. Overall, DMRC's Phase IV includes six new corridors, with more projects set to begin this year.
