Residents in Bengaluru have been advised to expect short and localised power cuts from 4 to 8 December 2025. BESCOM will be carrying out planned maintenance, upgrades, and safety checks during this period. These shutdowns are mainly scheduled during the day, and officials have confirmed that there is no plan

for a citywide power cut.
Why Are These Outages Essential?
Authorities explain that these outages are routine and meant to improve the quality and reliability of the electricity supply. They emphasise that the cuts are not due to a shortage or any major issue. Most power interruptions will be limited to certain feeders or small neighbourhood pockets, and supply will usually return once the work at each location is completed.
Planned Outages
BESCOM has stated that most planned outages will likely occur between 10 am and 6 pm. Each power cut may last between 1 and 5 hours, depending on the nature of the work. In some cases, if technicians finish early, electricity may be restored sooner than expected. However, officials also warn that unexpected technical problems or bad weather may sometimes extend the duration, especially in crowded areas where cable or transformer access is more difficult.
BESCOM's Maintenance Activities
These maintenance activities were earlier postponed during the monsoon and during peak summer demand, when uninterrupted supply had higher priority. With stable weather and lower daytime load, BESCOM is now completing pending tasks such as replacing ageing cables, servicing transformers, improving feeder lines, and balancing power loads in fast-growing residential and commercial areas. This helps prevent sudden breakdowns and voltage drops in the future.
Temporary Outages
Different parts of South, North, East, West, and Central Bengaluru may experience temporary outages during this window. Residents are advised to keep devices charged, store water in advance, and avoid using heavy appliances. Those working from home should plan meetings and save work early. For exact timings, people can contact the BESCOM helpline 1912 or their local offices.
