Residents of Bengaluru and many parts of Karnataka should be prepared for wet weather on June 12, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall and issued a yellow alert for several districts across the state. The alert indicates the possibility of moderate to heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds in many areas.

Bengaluru Weather Alert
According to the weather department, Bengaluru is likely to experience cloudy skies with intermittent rainfall throughout the day. The city may also experience thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds, which could lead to traffic congestion, waterlogging in low-lying areas, and disruptions to daily activities. People commuting to work or school have been advised to carry umbrellas and remain cautious while travelling.
Yellow Alert in Karnataka
The yellow alert has been issued for most districts of Karnataka due to the increasing intensity of monsoon-related weather activity. The coastal, southern interior, and central parts of the state are expected to receive significant rainfall. Authorities have advised residents to stay updated with weather forecasts and follow safety guidelines, especially during thunderstorms and periods of heavy rain.
Advisory for Residents
The rainfall is expected to provide relief from recent warm and humid conditions. However, heavy showers may also cause problems such as water accumulation on roads, slower traffic, and possible disruptions in some areas. Farmers and local authorities are keeping a close watch on weather developments as the monsoon continues to strengthen across Karnataka.
The IMD has urged people to avoid unnecessary travel during intense rain spells, stay away from weak structures and trees during strong winds, and monitor official weather updates. With widespread rainfall expected across the state, Karnataka is likely to witness a rainy day, while Bengaluru residents can expect cooler temperatures and pleasant weather conditions after the showers.
