Bengaluru to Get Stronger, Smoother Roads with 30-Year Lifespan Plan – Check Details

In a big step towards improving roads in Bengaluru, the Karnataka state government has started major work to fix potholes and upgrade road conditions. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who is also the Bangalore Urban Development Minister, launched road asphalting work in 10 assembly constituencies. This project is being carried out by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and aims to give the city better and safer roads.

Bengaluru to Get Stronger Smoother Road

Asphalting Work Across the City

The plan includes black and white topping of 1600 km of roads in Bengaluru. Shivakumar said that block topping work has started at 10 different places in a single day, showing how serious the government is about fixing roads quickly and efficiently. In addition, 450 km of road work is already in progress. Another 350 km of roads are still covered under the Defect Liability Period (DLP), during which contractors must fix any damages without extra cost.

Focus on Roads That Last

Shivakumar said the aim is to build strong roads that can last up to 30 years. The project has been given Rs. 6,000 crore in the state budget. A special team has been created to check the quality of the roadwork. This will help make sure the work is done well and the money is used properly. The Deputy Chief Minister believes that these improvements will bring a big change in the city's road system.

Garbage and Drainage Work Also in Progress

Apart from roads, the government is also working on the city's garbage and storm water drainage problems. Shivakumar said that Rs. 2,000 crore has been given by the World Bank for drainage work. Even though the government has received complaints about waste management, it is taking the matter seriously. Plans are being made to invite new tenders for better garbage collection and disposal.

Working Together with the Police

To keep the roads in good condition, Shivakumar said that they are also working with the police department. Police will help report bad roads to the BBMP Commissioner so that repair work can be done quickly. This teamwork between the government and the police is a part of the full plan to improve the city's streets.

A Better Bengaluru on the Wa

The Karnataka government's strong plan to improve roads, manage waste, and fix drains shows its serious effort to make Bengaluru better. With a focus on quality and durability, the city is likely to see major improvements in how it looks and how people live.
