Bengaluru Rain Alert: IMD Predicts Rainfall & Thunderstorms in Several Parts of Bengaluru on 2nd May

The recent pre-monsoon weather in Bengaluru has been quite intense. Over the past few days, the city has experienced heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds, which has brought much-needed relief from the summer heat and helped lower temperatures. However, the sudden weather has also caused problems in some areas, such

as waterlogging and traffic jams. According to the India Meteorological Department, this is part of a larger pre-monsoon pattern affecting South Karnataka.

Bengaluru Rain Alert on 2nd May

The IMD has warned that rain and thunderstorms are likely to continue over the next few days. During strong weather conditions, wind speeds could reach up to 60 km per hour. People, especially travelers and daily commuters, are advised to be careful and take safety measures, as storms may become more intense in the evening. While the recent rains have cooled the city, they also showed that Bengaluru is not fully prepared for sudden heavy downpours. As the weather slowly stabilizes, temperatures are expected to rise again. Daytime temperatures may reach around 34°C, making the weather feel warm and humid. According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is likely to reduce from May 2 onwards. Instead of widespread heavy rain, the city may experience lighter and more scattered showers. Rainfall will still occur in some areas, but it will not be as intense as in recent days.

Reason Behind Bengaluru Rains

Experts say this sudden increase in rainfall is due to unstable atmospheric conditions. Factors like a trough, wind discontinuity, and the influence of a western disturbance have played a role, which have created the perfect environment for thunderstorms and pre-monsoon showers across Karnataka and nearby regions.
