Heading Out on New Year's Eve? Namma Metro & BMTC Offer Late-Night Rides in Bengaluru
The metro network will remain operational past midnight on all three lines, while BMTC buses will emanate from central hubs such as M.G. Road and Brigade Road. Officials say the adjustments respond to anticipated New Year crowds and have instituted varying closing times, service frequencies, and fare arrangements for each metro line and bus route.
Bengaluru New Year travel: BMTC special midnight bus operations
The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation has planned special midnight bus services to shuttle crowds home after New Year celebrations. These runs will operate from 11 p.m. on December 31 until 2 a.m. on January 1, subject to traffic conditions. Buses will originate from M.G. Road Metro Station and Brigade Road, with routes extending to numerous distant areas. BMTC's announced routes include direct connections to Electronics City, Jigani, Sarjapura, Kengeri KHB Quarters, and Janapriya Township. Additional destinations encompass Nelamangala, Yelahanka (including 5th Stage), Bagalur, Hosakote, Channasandra, Kadugodi, Banashankari, Jeevan Bhimanagara, Central Silk Board, and Koramangala. Both G-series and standard route buses will operate these late-night corridors.
Bengaluru New Year travel: Additional BMTC services from major bus hubs
Beyond the M.G. Road and Brigade Road corridors, BMTC plans to add more bus services from major interchanges across Bengaluru. Extra routes will operate from Kempegowda Bus Station, K.R. Market, Shivajinagar, Koramangala, Kadugodi, Kengeri, Sumanahalli, Goraguntepalya, and Yeshwantpur. Additional connectivity is also arranged from Yelahanka, Shanthinagar, Banashankari, Hebbal, and Central Silk Board to help passengers disperse after midnight. The goal of these new trips is to link with typical residential zones so that people returning from central celebrations can reach their neighborhoods without relying on private cars. Services during these hours will depend on traffic conditions, but BMTC has said buses will run until about 2 a.m. where feasible.

Bengaluru New Year travel: M.G. Road Metro closure and ticket advisory
Access to the bustling M.G. Road Metro Station will be limited during peak party hours. A press release noted: "Due to the expected large crowd around M.G. Road, entry to and exit from the M.G. Road Metro Station will be closed on December 31, 2025, starting at 10 p.m. Trains will still stop at the nearby Trinity and Cubbon Park stations for passenger boarding and alighting." The BMRCL has also warned passengers about late-night ticketing rules. Token sales at Trinity and Cubbon Park will halt after 11 p.m. Travelers using the network after that time should purchase travel tokens beforehand or use QR tickets or smart cards with sufficient stored value to complete their journeys. These coordinated measures by BMRCL and BMTC will provide late-night rail and bus service across Bengaluru on December 31, 2025. Extended metro hours, special bus routes, and clear ticketing guidance aim to facilitate safe movement for New Year celebrations while reducing traffic on central thoroughfares.
