Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced that metro services on a section of the Purple Line will be temporarily suspended on May 10, 2026, to carry out important maintenance work. According to an official press release, metro train services between Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji Station (Hosahalli) and Cubbon Park

Metro Station will remain unavailable from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Sunday morning. The maintenance work will take place on the stretch between Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station (Majestic) and Sir M. Visvesvaraya Station (Central College).

During the two-hour maintenance period, metro services will continue to operate normally on some sections of the Purple Line. Trains will run as per schedule between Challaghatta and Vijayanagar, and also between M.G. Road and Whitefield, Kadugodi. Apart from the Purple Line changes, metro services on other routes of the Bengaluru Metro network will continue without any disruption. Trains on the Madavara to Silk Institute corridor and the R.V. Road to Bommasandra corridor will run according to the regular timetable.
Reason behind the Suspension
BMRCL said that the temporary suspension is necessary to complete essential maintenance work and ensure the smooth and safe functioning of metro operations. Passengers travelling on Sunday morning are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and use alternative transport arrangements if required during the affected hours.
The metro authority also confirmed that normal train services across the entire Purple Line, including the affected section between Hosahalli and Cubbon Park, will resume from 9 a.m. onwards on May 10. After that, trains are expected to run as usual throughout the day.
Commuters have been requested to check official updates and announcements before starting their journey to avoid inconvenience during the temporary service disruption.
