Bengaluru Metro Received its 13th Train Set for the Yellow Line, Aiming to Boost Frequency

Bengaluru's Namma Metro project has received another boost with the arrival of the 13th train set for the Yellow Line. The new train reached the Hebbagodi depot on Sunday, bringing the total number of trains available for the corridor closer to the required fleet strength. The addition is expected to help improve train frequency and reduce waiting times for commuters travelling on the busy route.

Bengaluru Metro's Yellow Line

The Yellow Line connects RV Road and Bommasandra, covering key areas such as BTM Layout, Silk Board, Electronic City, and other major employment hubs in south Bengaluru. The corridor has become an important transport link for thousands of daily passengers, especially IT professionals travelling to Electronic City.

New Train to Undergo Several Tests

Officials from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) said the newly arrived train will undergo mandatory inspections and testing before it is put into passenger service. These tests are necessary to ensure the train meets all safety and operational standards. Once approved, the train will be added to regular operations on the Yellow Line.

How will this Yellow Line Train Benefit Passengers?

The gradual addition of train sets has helped BMRCL improve services on the corridor over time. When the line first opened, limited train availability led to longer wait times for passengers. As more trains have been inducted, frequencies have improved significantly, making travel more convenient and reliable.

According to Metro officials, the complete fleet for the Yellow Line will consist of 15 trains. Once all train sets are delivered and commissioned, trains are expected to run at much shorter intervals, particularly during peak hours. This will help accommodate rising passenger demand and provide smoother connectivity across South Bengaluru.
The arrival of the 13th train marks another important milestone for Namma Metro's expansion efforts and is expected to strengthen public transport services in Bengaluru further.
