Bengaluru's Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) closed a key part of Devarabisanahalli-Sakra Hospital Main Road to all traffic to begin a 60-day white-topping project. This stretch, running from Myntra Apartments to Bellandur Kodi, will be upgraded to a higher-quality road surface, promising a smoother, longer-lasting route for the future. During the closure, all vehicles must use alternate routes to travel through this busy area.

Traffic Diversions and Alternate Routes
To help manage the expected traffic disruptions, the Bengaluru Traffic Police have shared specific alternative routes for drivers to take:
- Yamalur to Devarabisanahalli and Bellandur: Use Old Airport Road, go through Yamalur Junction, cross Marathahalli Bridge, then Kadubeesanahalli Bridge, and finally join the Outer Ring Road.
- Yamalur to Kadubeesanahalli and Devarabisanahalli: Turn left at Yamalur Kodi, continue along Old Airport Road, pass Yamalur Junction, and take Kariyammana Agrahara Road.
- Yamalur to Outer Ring Road: Turn right at Yamalur Kodi toward Bellandur Kodi, then pass through Yamalur Village to reach the Outer Ring Road.
For those heading into the city, follow these routes:
- From Devarabisanahalli and Bellandur: Turn left onto the Outer Ring Road, continue to Kadubeesanahalli Bridge, cross Marathahalli Bridge, and go through Yamalur Junction toward the city.
- From Kadubeesanahalli or Devarabisanahalli: Take a right at Kariyammana Agrahara Road, pass Yamalur Village, and join Old Airport Road into the city.
- Outer Ring Road to City: Turn left at Bellandur Kodi, then proceed to Yamalur Kodi, and finally reach Old Airport Road via Yamalur Junction.
Public Advisory and Cooperation
The Bengaluru Traffic Police have issued traffic advisories, urging commuters to avoid routes around Yamalur and Bellandur Lake to reduce congestion in these busy areas. These advisories are shared through social media to keep the public informed on the best alternative paths.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic East Division, Kuldeep Kumar R. Jain, IPS, stressed the importance of community support during the construction work. He explained that white-topping is essential to strengthen and improve road quality, which benefits drivers in the long run. He encouraged commuters to cooperate by following the suggested detours to keep traffic as smooth as possible during the project.
Impact and Future Benefits
The BBMP's white-topping project is part of a larger effort to improve Bengaluru's road network. Although the temporary closure affects daily commutes, it ultimately aims to offer a safer, more durable roadway for all. Following the designated alternative routes will help reduce traffic jams, allowing the city's infrastructure improvements to progress efficiently.
With public cooperation and patience, this roadwork can be completed with minimal impact, enhancing Bengaluru's roads for everyone.
