As December begins, the festive mood for Christmas and the New Year has set in, and many people are preparing to travel. To handle the increase in holiday travellers, Southern Railway has announced special express trains between Nagercoil and Madgaon Junction for select dates in December 2025 and January 2026.
Ticket Booking for December Holidays
With the holiday season approaching quickly, travellers are encouraged to book their tickets soon, whether they are heading home or planning a trip to explore different cities. Southern Railway shared the update on X, saying that these Christmas and New Year Special Trains will help manage the festive rush. They also mentioned that the trains will have additional coaches to make the journey more comfortable. Bookings for these services opened on 4 December at 8 am.
Special Express Trains
Moreover, the South Western Railway announced on 2 December that it will operate a special express train between Bengaluru Cantonment and Bidar to handle Christmas travel demand. This train will run for one trip only. It will leave Bengaluru Cantonment at 9:15 pm on 24 December and reach Bidar at 11:30 am on Christmas Day, 25 December. The train will have 22 coaches and will stop at major stations such as Yelahanka, Hindupur, Dharmavaram, Anantapur, Guntakal, Adoni, Mantralayam Road, Raichur, Krishna, Yadgir, Wadi, Shahabad, Kalaburagi, and Humnabad. The return journey from Bidar to Bengaluru Cantonment will start on 25 December at 1 pm and reach Bengaluru at around 4 am the next day.
On 3 December, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Bengaluru also issued a notice announcing another special express service between Bengaluru Cantonment and Belagavi for the Christmas season, ensuring more travel options for passengers during the festive rush.
