Bengaluru and Belagavi to Get Major Tourism Development Worth ₹100 Crore

The Government of India has approved 40 tourism projects across 23 states under the 'Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) - Development of Iconic Tourist Centres to Global Scale' scheme. The total budget for these projects in Financial Year 2024-25 is ₹3295.76 crore. The main goal is to develop iconic tourist places, improve branding, and promote them on a global scale.

Karnataka to Get Tourism Development

How the Projects Are Selected

The Ministry of Tourism asked all state governments to submit proposals for tourism development. The proposals were evaluated based on several factors, including:

- Connectivity to the site
- Tourism facilities and services
- Sustainability measures
- Management and long-term operation
- Impact on tourism growth
- Marketing and promotion plans

After evaluation, Karnataka's projects were approved for development.

Karnataka to Benefit from Tourism Development

Under this scheme, Karnataka will see two important tourism projects:

1. Ecotourism & Cultural Hub at Roerich and Devika Rani Estate, Tataguni, Bengaluru - ₹99.17 crore
2. Development of Savadatti Yallammagudda, Belagavi - ₹100 crore

These projects aim to improve tourism facilities, cultural heritage, and eco-friendly travel experiences in Karnataka.

Implementation and Monitoring

The State Implementing Agencies will be responsible for building and managing these projects. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Tourism will review the progress regularly to ensure smooth implementation.

Promotion of Karnataka's Tourism

The Ministry of Tourism is also working to promote lesser-known destinations in Karnataka through:

- Official tourism websites
- Social media campaigns
- Participation in tourism events
- Helping state governments organize fairs and festivals

With these new projects, Karnataka will soon offer better travel experiences to visitors. The development of Roerich and Devika Rani Estate and Savadatti Yallammagudda will help attract more tourists and boost the local economy. The SASCI scheme is a major step towards making Karnataka's tourism globally recognized.
