Tourists visiting Varanasi now have a new way to explore the sacred Ganga River. The luxurious Bengal Ganga Cruise has officially started its operations, offering an upscale experience for travelers journeying between Varanasi and Prayagraj, and Varanasi and Patna. With stops at scenic places like Ghazipur and Ballia, this cruise promises a unique blend of comfort, culture, and convenience for those looking to explore the river's beauty and India's rich heritage.

The Bengal Ganga Cruise offers a high-end experience, complete with beautifully designed interiors and modern amenities. Raj Singh, the owner of Bengal Ganga Cruise, shared that the vessel has three decks and 22 comfortable rooms, making it a perfect fit for up to 40 guests. The cruise also ensures a relaxing journey with various facilities, including well-furnished cabins, dining areas, and recreational spaces. This setup is designed to give tourists a memorable trip with both comfort and the stunning river views.
The cruise primarily serves vegetarian cuisine, adding a touch of local flavor to its service. The fare for this luxurious river experience is Rs 15,000 per person per day, making it a premium option for those seeking a comfortable and scenic journey along the Ganga River.
Attracting More Tourists to the Ganga Ghats
The Bengal Ganga Cruise was launched on October 22, 2023, with support from the state government, the Government of India, and the Ministry of Shipping. This initiative aligns with efforts to boost tourism along the Ganga riverbanks, connecting major cities and communities along the river's path. Varanasi is the focal point of this project due to its rich cultural heritage and popularity among tourists. The city is easily accessible by air, rail, and road, making it an ideal hub for the cruise. Prospective travelers can book their journey online, which makes the entire experience convenient and easy to access.

The cruise is designed to support, not compete with, local watercraft services. For tourists wanting a closer view of the Ganga Aarti, a small boat from the local fleet is hired to bring them to the ceremony. "This ensures no loss to regional sailors," explained the organizer, adding that local boats will be booked to show Ganga Aarti to guests, keeping the cruise complementary to local services.
A Harmonious Blend of Tradition and Luxury
The Bengal Ganga Cruise is not just a travel option; it's a new chapter in the way tourists experience the Ganga River. By combining luxury with respect for local traditions, it enriches Varanasi's tourism scene and provides travelers with an unforgettable journey through the heart of India's cultural and spiritual landscape. The Bengal Ganga Cruise is a symbol of how tourism can be both innovative and supportive of the local community, ensuring a win-win experience for everyone involved.
