Revamping Tourism with the Swadesh Darshan Scheme
The Swadesh Darshan Scheme, launched by the Ministry of Tourism, has been a pivotal initiative for the development of theme-based tourist circuits in India. A total of 76 projects have been sanctioned under the original Swadesh Darshan Scheme. Now, with the evolution into Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD2.0), the focus is on sustainable and responsible tourism destinations.

Under SD2.0, the Ministry of Tourism follows a destination and tourism-centric approach. The respective State/UT prepares a State Perspective Plan in line with the scheme guidelines, and the Ministry selects destinations for development accordingly. This ensures that the unique characteristics and attractions of each destination are thoughtfully incorporated into the development plan.
National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation: Exploring Spiritual Heritage
In addition to the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme, the Ministry of Tourism has launched the National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD) Scheme. This scheme aims at the integrated development of identified pilgrimage destinations across India. The objective is to create pilgrimage and spiritual tourism infrastructure, enhancing the overall experience for visitors.

A total of 46 projects have been sanctioned under the PRASHAD Scheme, contributing to the rejuvenation and augmentation of India's spiritual heritage. The detailed project-wise information under the PRASHAD Scheme is provided in Annexure-II.
