Amrit Bharat Trains, Launched by PM Narendra Modi have started Operations from 2nd May

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched two new affordable Amrit Bharat trains on April 28, 2026, which are expected to make travel easier for daily commuters, migrant workers, and pilgrims, while also improving connectivity between important cities. Since Varanasi and Ayodhya are major religious destinations, these trains are likely to boost tourism and attract many devotees to Maharashtra. The Banaras-Hadapsar Amrit Bharat Express with train numbers 22589 and 22590 takes around 30 hours to complete its journey and stops at 20 stations. It started regular daily services from Varanasi on May 2, 2026, and from Hadapsar on May 4, 2026.The Ayodhya-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Amrit Bharat Express with Train numbers 22111 and 22112 takes about 26 hours and stops at 12 stations. This train runs weekly, departing from Ayodhya every Wednesday and from Mumbai every Tuesday. Its regular service began on May 5 from Mumbai and on May 6 from Ayodhya.Amrit Bharat Train FeaturesThese trains come with several modern features, including push-pull technology, which places two powerful engines at both ends. This helps the train move faster and reduce travel time. The trains are designed to reach speeds up to 160 kmph, though they usually run at around 130 kmph.Passengers will also experience smoother journeys, as the trains have special couplers that reduce jerks during starting and stopping. For safety, the trains are equipped with the KAVACH system, CCTV cameras in all coaches, and fire safety systems in important areas. nbsp;
