Kolkata has just been added as Akasa Air's 17th destination. It has included Kolkata in its network and it will begin operating daily nonstop flights on May 18 connecting the East Indian metropolis with Bengaluru and Guwahati. A daily direct trip from Bengaluru to Guwahati will also be available to passengers, allowing for a smooth connection without the need to change aircraft.
In India, Akasa has quickly spread over the entire nation, flying to both large and small cities. The addition of Kolkata, however, is relatively unique in that it elevates Akasa to the list of all other significant Indian airlines that serve all Indian metropolises. The airline accomplished this within 7 months of its operations beginning.
Since its founding in August 2022, Akasa Airlines has transported over 1 million return passengers and achieved the milestone of operating over 700 weekly flights connecting major cities like Bengaluru, Kochi, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Goa, Varanasi, Agartala, Guwahati, etc. Also, Ahmedabad which has a special connection with Akasa Air as it was its first destination on its network.
Akasa Air, the newest airline in India, will have its work cut out for it in the upcoming fiscal year. In addition to starting foreign flights and increasing connectivity to non-metropolitan areas, it also plans to make a sizable order for new aircraft with both Boeing and Airbus.
