Air India Introduces AEYE Vision Feature With Real-Time Updates For Enhanced Travel

Air India introduces AEYE Vision, an AI-powered feature in its mobile app, providing real-time updates on flights, baggage, and more, enhancing the passenger experience.

Air India has introduced a new feature on its mobile app called 'AEYE Vision,’ aimed at improving passenger experience with real-time trip updates. This feature, developed in-house and powered by AI-based computer vision technology, allows passengers to access flight details, boarding passes, baggage status, and meal options by simply scanning a code on their ticket, boarding pass, or baggage tag.

Users can point their phone camera at their boarding pass, baggage tag, or ticket to instantly access relevant trip details within the app. This eliminates the need for manual data entry. The AEYE Vision feature is accessible on the top-right corner of the Air India mobile app's home page and in other parts of the app where computer vision capability can reduce data entry steps.

Key Features of AEYE Vision

One of the main features of AEYE Vision includes scanning the boarding pass to instantly add journey details to 'My Trips’ and check flight and baggage status. Users can also scan baggage tags to keep track of their checked-in bags, providing information on when bags are loaded, unloaded, and ready for pick-up at baggage claim.

Additionally, scanning tickets initiates the web check-in process, adds the trip to the 'My Trips’ section, and tracks flights and checked-in bags. This significantly reduces data entry steps required to access real-time trip details, offering customers an immersive app experience.

Advanced Technology Integration

"Modern-day computer vision technologies based on artificial neural networks have the power to recognise objects and patterns with a degree of accuracy matching or exceeding human perception. This has the potential to eliminate cumbersome data entry from input constrained devices such as the mobile phone.

We are delighted to bring to bear the power of the latest in artificial intelligence technology in the form of computer vision to ease the journey of our esteemed customers on our mobile app. We will be embedding this capability across our mobile app so that the app is a joy to use," said Dr. Satya Ramaswamy, Chief Digital and Technology Officer, Air India.

The airline plans to add more features like baggage dimension check, passport scan, image-based destination search, and augmented reality-based destination details over the next few months. These enhancements aim to further streamline passenger interactions with Air India's services through its mobile app.

With AEYE Vision, users can scan documents directly using their phone camera or upload an image from their gallery. The app recognises the content and initiates relevant actions automatically. This feature minimises steps and requirements for data entry while providing real-time trip updates.

The integration of AI-based computer vision technology into Air India's mobile app represents a significant step towards enhancing customer convenience. By leveraging advanced technologies like artificial neural networks for object recognition, Air India aims to provide a seamless travel experience for its passengers.

This new feature underscores Air India's commitment to using cutting-edge technology to improve passenger services. As more features are added in future updates, passengers can expect even greater ease and efficiency when managing their travel plans through Air India's mobile app.
