To ensure the success of the installations, two consultants have been hired to carefully select and place the sculptures.
This year's budget marks a significant rise compared to last year. In 2023, the cost of sculptures was ₹5.30 crores. This year, an additional ₹3 crores has been added, reflecting the event's growing scale and ambition. The Recreation Committee recently approved this increased budget to make the show more appealing with iconic and simple sculptures.
Larger Overall Budget
The total budget for the Ahmedabad Sabarmati Riverfront Flower Show 2025 is projected at ₹11.65 crores, but the garden department has already announced tenders worth ₹17 crores. More tenders ranging between ₹5 crores and ₹7 crores are also expected soon. This is a significant increase compared to last year's expenses and shows how much effort is being put into improving the event.
Aside from sculptures, ₹3 crores have been set aside for buying plants, pots, and trays. This ensures the show will have a well-rounded presentation that blends sculptures and greenery.
Challenges and Concerns
While the event continues to grow, some concerns remain. Many sculptures in the past few years have been similar, with three to four types being reused. However, new sculptures are added every year to keep the event fresh and innovative. This strategy raises questions about the cost and sustainability of creating new sculptures yearly, especially with such a large budget involved.
