The Vande Bharat Express is all set to begin its service between Jammu and Srinagar next month, marking a historic moment for Indian Railways. This modern train, with its sleek orange and grey design, has already arrived in Jammu and Kashmir and is undergoing trial runs. Its launch promises to transform rail travel in this mountainous region.

A senior railway official shared, "Vande Bharat train for Kashmir Valley likely to be launched by PM Modi in the first week of February." Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the train, which will connect Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) to Srinagar. Discussions are ongoing about extending the service to Budgam, with the final route decision resting with the Railway Board.
What sets this train apart is its special design, created to handle the harsh winters of the Kashmir Valley. The train can operate smoothly even when temperatures drop to -20°C. It features advanced heating systems to ensure passengers and drivers remain comfortable during their journey.

The driver's cabin is equipped with a heated windshield to prevent fogging and freezing, maintaining clear visibility in extreme weather. Additionally, the plumbing and bio-toilets have heating elements to keep the water from freezing, ensuring uninterrupted use of these facilities during the journey.
The fare for the Katra-Srinagar route is yet to be finalized. However, estimates suggest ticket prices will range between Rs 1500-1600 for the AC Chair Car and Rs 2200-2500 for the Executive Chair Car. This pricing aims to provide passengers with a comfortable yet affordable travel option.
The introduction of the Vande Bharat Express in the Kashmir Valley is a testament to India's growing railway technology. It combines comfort, efficiency, and the ability to perform in extreme weather conditions.

This train is not just a technological achievement but also a significant step towards better connectivity in the region. The Vande Bharat Express will make it easier and faster for passengers to travel between Jammu and Srinagar, overcoming the challenges of the mountainous terrain.
With its launch just around the corner, the Vande Bharat Express is poised to improve travel experiences and connect people in Jammu and Kashmir like never before. This development reflects the Indian Railways' dedication to enhancing passenger convenience and bridging distances, even in the most challenging conditions.
