Metro Railway has launched a new wallet feature in the Aamar Kolkata Metro mobile application to make ticket booking and smart card recharge easier for commuters. With this new facility, passengers can maintain a prepaid balance in the app and use it to buy QR tickets or recharge their Metro

Smart Cards.
Recharge of Wallet
The wallet can be recharged digitally through the app. Once money is added, commuters can pay from their stored balance by booking tickets or topping up their smart cards, easing the process and speeding up transactions. By using the wallet, passengers can avoid entering payment details each time they make a booking, which can help speed up ticket generation. The wallet option has been introduced along with the existing payment methods already available in the app. Commuters can still use UPI, credit or debit cards, and net banking through two different bank gateways. The new wallet feature adds another convenient payment option for regular Metro users.
Commuters' Opinions
Some early users have already started using the new facility and say it has made the booking process quicker. Chitra Modak, who lives in Rajarhat and travels regularly to Park Street for work, said she has already added money to the wallet and used it to book metro tickets through the app.
Kolkata Metro's Safety Measures
In another development, Metro Railway also organised a firefighting training programme for its field staff at Central Metro Station on Tuesday. The training was conducted to check how prepared employees are to handle fire emergencies and respond quickly if such a situation occurs.
Metro officials said that General Manager Subhransu S Mishra regularly reviews safety measures across the metro network to prevent accidents and ensure smooth operations. According to the authorities, such training programmes are conducted frequently to strengthen safety practices and improve staff response during emergencies.
