The IMD also mentioned the imminent advancement of the Southwest Monsoon into the South Andaman Sea, certain parts of the Southeast Bay of Bengal, and the Nicobar Islands around May 19, 2024. Furthermore, a trough extending from South Interior Karnataka to east Vidarbha has become less pronounced.

On May 17, the IMD issued warnings of heavy rain and thundershowers, along with gusty winds of 40-50 kmph, in Kodagu, Hassan, Mysuru, Mandya, and Tumkur districts. Dakshina Kannada district is expected to experience heavy rain and thundershowers, while moderate rain and thundershowers, accompanied by gusty winds, are forecasted for several other districts including Ballari, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban, Chamarajanagar, and others.

Moreover, Udupi and Uttar Kannada districts are likely to witness moderate rain and thundershowers, while districts such as Bagalkote, Belagavi, Bidar, and others may experience light to moderate rain coupled with gusty winds.
