3-Day Tourist Ban Imposed on Chikmagalur's Popular Sites; Explore Alternative Destinations Instead

In Chikmagalur, nestled in Karnataka's Western Ghats, there are many captivating destinations to explore. However, if you're planning a trip to Chikmagalur, there's important news to consider. The district administration has imposed a three-day ban on tourists visiting Mullayyanagiri and Dattapeeth areas. This precautionary measure is due to Sri Ram Sena's Dattamala Abhiyaan scheduled from November 30th for a week. During this period, entry to Dattapeeth, Sitalayyanagiri, Mullayanagiri, Honnammanahalla, Manikyadhara, and Gaalikere will be prohibited.

3 Days Ban Imposed on Chikmagalur

The decision follows concerns over safety, as sections of the mountain road have collapsed due to heavy rain and soil moisture, posing risks to vehicles. The ban, effective until July 22, excludes local residents' vehicles, emergency services like ambulances and fire tenders, and police vehicles.

Dr. Vikrama Amate, District Superintendent of Police, stressed the ban's necessity following inspections at Kaimara checkpost. Recent instances of disruptive tourist behavior, including littering with plastic and liquor bottles, prompted stringent police actions and seizures.

To maintain safety and environmental cleanliness, district police have intensified operations. Recent crackdowns at Mullayanagiri, Deva Mane in Mudigere, Lakkavalli in Tarikere, and other spots have resulted in legal actions against offenders.
