Mudumalai Weather

The best season to visit Mudumalai is the period from December to February taking into account the weather, suitability for trekking, sightseeing, etc. Visiting in June is also a good idea. Heavy rain in October and November interferes with trekking and the Mudumalai National Park might not be open to public during the dry season.

Summer

Summer in Mudumalai is characterized by dry warmth. The Deciduous forests are often bare, and animals are seen around the water holes. Small forest fires may also be seen during the summer. Light clothing, trousers, walking shoes and sunscreen are things one should bring along if visiting during this time.

Monsoon

The temperatures during the monsoon are usually between 16 0C and 28 0C. Rainfall is not consistent in Mudumalai, and short sprays of rain accompanied by strong winds are what can be expected. Recommended items to carry include an umbrella, a windcheater, a pair of jeans and tee shirts.

Winter

Clear skies, pleasantly cool nights and sunny days are what one can look forward to in this season. The mornings during this time are usually misty. The evenings can get a bit chilly, so it is advisable to carry a sweater with you along with your normal clothing.
