Sonprayag is situated at an elevation of about 1829 m, at a distance of 19 km from Kedarnath. This is the place where two of the rivers, namely, Basuki and Mandakini, converge. This place, which is located on the Kedarnath route, holds immense religious significance, owing to the sacred water of the river. According to the legends, mere touch of the water of Sonprayag is a step forward towards the Baikunth Dham.
