Sitanadi Wildlife Sanctuary

One of the places to visit in Dhamtari is the Sitanadi Wildlife Sanctuary, named after the Sitanadi river that originates in the sanctuary. It is known for its lush green coverings and varied wildlife. The sanctuary takes special care to protect animals like tigers and leopards. It is a hub for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts who come here to catch a glimpse of these animals in their natural habitat. Tourists can also go on a safari jeep ride and enjoy the wildlife here.

Sihava

Sihava is the Pilgrimage hub of Dhamtari, as this small town is known to have many shrines. Surrounded by forests and mountains and located on the banks of Mahanadi river the religious places in this town include the Karbeshwar Temple, Hringi Hathi Khot Ashram, Mahamai Temple, Amrit Kund, Danteshwari Cave and Ganesh Ghat. Devotees come here from far and wide to offer prayers at these holy places. Tourists coming here can visit these religious spots or take a stroll on the banks of the river.

Madamsilli dam

A tourist place in Dhamtari is the Madamsilli Dam also known as Murrumsilli Dam and is located on the Mahanadi river. It is a perfect place to head to in order to get a scenic view of the region. It is a haven for nature lovers and photographers who get to see the entire forest covered region from above this dam. It is also an ideal place to go on a picnic with your family.

Gangrel Dam

Another place to visit in Dhamtari is the Gangrel Dam, locally known as the Ravishankar Dam and is built across the Mahanadi river. This dam is a hydel power project and it provides electricity to the town and nearby regions. Tourists coming here can explore the surrounding areas of the dam and also go boating in the river.

How to Reach Dhamtari

By Air: The nearest airbase to Dhamtari is Raipur, situated 16 km from Dhamtari. It is well-connected with other major cities in the country.

By Train: Trains are available directly to the town of Dhamtari as the place has a railway station. Trains are available regularly to other parts of India as well.

By Road: The city of Raipur is located at a distance of 76 km to the north of Dhamtari and regular buses will be available in this route for minimal fares. You can either travel to Dhamtari directly or visit the town through Raipur.
