Today's Patiala is spread around this Quila Mubarak which once served as the main fortress. It is a must to explore Quila Mubarak on your trip to Patiala! Its grand architecture reflects the craftsmanship and amazing talent that existed in this region. Now it stands as a testimony for being one of the incredible Sikh Palace Architectures in India. Quila Mubarak complex consists of a palace Khila Androon, Darbar Hall (Diwan Khana) and Ran Bas (Guest House). The fortress was originally built by Baba Ala Singh in 1763. Initially, it was a mudfort but later it was reconstructed with mud bricks. Recently, Quila Mubarak also went through a restoration process.

Bahadurgarh Fort is one of the oldest forts in Patiala. It was built even before the Quila Mubarak. The fortress was constructed by Nawab Saif Ali Khan which is named after the Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur. There is a Gurudwara named Gurudwara Sahib Patshai Navin which is a popular religious place in Patiala. There is also a mosque inside the fort complex.
