To manage the heavy passenger rush during the upcoming Holi festival, Indian Railways has announced two special trains that will pass through Ludhiana. These trains are mainly meant to help the city's large migrant population travel to their home states and celebrate the festival with their families.

Ferozepur Cantt-Danapur Reserved Special Express
The first train, the Ferozepur Cantt-Danapur Reserved Special Express, will run three trips from Ferozepur on February 26, March 2 and March 6, 2026. In the return direction, it will leave Danapur on February 27, March 3 and March 7, 2026. This train will pass through Ludhiana and stop at Ludhiana railway station, where it will reverse direction as per schedule. On its way to Danapur in Bihar, the train will cover important stations such as Ambala Cantt, Moradabad, Lucknow, Varanasi, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction and Ara.
Amritsar-Katihar Reserved Special Express
The second train, the Amritsar-Katihar Reserved Special Express, will also operate three trips. It will depart from Amritsar on February 25, March 1 and March 5, 2026. From Katihar, it will run on February 27, March 3 and March 7, 2026. This train will pass through the division and serve passengers travelling towards eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
How are these Trains Helpful?
These special services have been introduced to reduce crowding on regular trains during Holi. Every year, many migrant workers and families travel from Ludhiana and nearby areas to states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for the festival. The additional trains are expected to make travel more convenient and comfortable for passengers during the festive season.
