Track renewal work will be carried out at Perundurai Railway Yard in the Erode-Tiruppur railway section on May 24, according to a statement from the Salem Railway Division.

Trains to be Affected on Erode Section
Due to the maintenance work, some train services will be partially affected on that day. Train No. 16843 Tiruchi-Palakkad Town Express, which normally leaves Tiruchi at 1 p.m., will end its regular journey at Erode Junction instead of going all the way to Palakkad Town. However, after the track work is completed, the train will continue from Erode Junction to Palakkad Town as a special unreserved service. The train will stop at all the usual stations along the route during this special run.
In the same way, Train No. 16321 Nagercoil-Coimbatore Express, which is scheduled to depart from Nagercoil at 8 a.m., will also be short-terminated at Erode Junction on May 24 because of the railway yard work. After the maintenance activities are completed, this train too will operate from Erode Junction to Coimbatore Junction as a special unreserved train. It will follow the same route and stop at the usual stations as per the normal schedule.
Why are the Temporary Changes Important?
Railway officials said these temporary changes are being made to allow important track renewal work at Perundurai Railway Yard. Such maintenance works are necessary to improve railway infrastructure and ensure safer and smoother train operations in the future.
Passengers travelling on these routes on May 24 are advised to check train timings and plan their journey accordingly.
