Flash Floods in Chamoli: Vehicles Buried, Landslides Block Roads; Check Weather Forecast

Good news mixed with worry has come from the beautiful but fragile mountains of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand. While the local people showed great humanity in helping a foreign tourist in danger, heavy rains have caused flash floods and landslides, making life difficult in the region. Roads have been blocked, vehicles buried under debris, and rescue work is still going on.

Flash floods and landslides block roads

Due to heavy rainfall in the Chamoli district, especially around Tharali, flash floods and landslides have caused major damage. Vehicles were buried under the debris, and many roads became unsafe for travel. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is working hard to remove rubble and reopen the roads, but the situation is still tough. People in the area have been advised to stay updated on official alerts and take safety precautions.

The weather in Chamoli right now is mostly cloudy with a temperature of 28°C. Tomorrow's forecast shows a high of 20°C and a low of 11°C, with only a 20% chance of rain. But caution is still needed as the weather can change quickly in the hills.

Russian tourist rescued after falling off a mountain

In the middle of these natural challenges, a heart-touching incident took place on Saturday evening in the Garud area of Chamoli. A 55-year-old Russian tourist, Sklyarov Boris, slipped and fell from a mountain while exploring the area with her friend Smileyenko Igor. The two were walking from Gwaldam to Garud, near Amsyari village, when Boris lost her balance and fell into a field, getting injured.

Local women, who were returning home after collecting grass, saw Boris lying injured. Even though they could not understand her language, they saw her pleading for help. Showing great kindness and humanity, the women lifted Boris onto a stretcher and took her to a vehicle for help.

Quick response and kindness save the day

Boris was given first aid by her friend Igor. Later, with the help of a local man, Pankaj Kushwaha, they traveled to Garud. Boris and her group were staying in a homestay in Bheta village. Local police, led by SHO Pratap Singh Nagarkoti of Baijnath, visited the spot and confirmed that Boris had only minor injuries and was recovering well.

This incident shows both the danger of travelling in mountainous areas and the power of human kindness. The local women's quick action has received a lot of praise online, and their support reminds us how strong community values still live in the hearts of people.
