The Creative Minds Behind Dino Mukk
Gokul S Pillai, one of the co-founders of Storytellers Union, played a key role in this project. His love for filmmaking began during his B.Tech studies. Along with his friend Shine Naushad, he started making short films with very few resources. Over the years, their team grew into a well-known creative agency. By 2023, they were working on longer stories while continuing their commercial projects.
A New Way of Storytelling
The use of AI changed everything for Storytellers Union. At first, they used AI only for planning and storyboarding, but soon, they created an AI-generated teaser for a feature film. This success encouraged them to experiment more, leading to the creation of Dino Mukk. They chose Palakkad as the setting because of its strong agricultural roots, making the story feel real and connected to everyday life.
The idea for Dino Mukk came during a team discussion. They were inspired by old farming shows like *Krishi Darshan*. Instead of showing dinosaurs as dangerous predators, they imagined them as friendly helpers in village life. Using AI, they finished the project in just eight days. The film blends nostalgia with futuristic technology, creating a story that has touched the hearts of many viewers.
The Role of AI in Filmmaking
Making Dino Mukk required a mix of different AI tools. Gokul used AI to create images of Kerala's landscapes and people, making sure the film looked as real as possible. AI helped in developing the magical world of Dino Mukk, proving how technology can improve filmmaking. Gokul sees AI as more than just a tool-it is a way to bring new ideas to life, allowing filmmakers to create grand stories without huge budgets.
Gokul dreams of making Storytellers Union one of India's top AI-based production houses. He believes that AI will help Malayalam cinema grow beyond small, realistic stories. With AI, filmmakers can now create their own science-fiction and fantasy movies without worrying about high costs.
