    Dudhwa National Park

The Dudhwa National Park lies in the Terai belt of Uttar Pradesh near the Indo-Nepal border. It was established as a wildlife sanctuary in 1958 and became a national park in 1977. Today, it comprises two parts: Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary and Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary.

The region within the park is most alluvial plain and comprises several lakes, pools and rivulets. This rich Indo-Gangetic plain supports several animals and birds including the endangered swamp deer leopard, fishing cat, ratel, civet, jackal, hog deer and barking deer.

The sanctuary is also a haven for the bird enthusiasts and attracts both residential and migratory birds. The best place to view the birds is at Banke Tal where you can see egrets, geese, cormorants, heron, ducks, and swans. The park is also a natural habitat of several reptiles including crocodiles and snakes. The park also is home to several endangered species of animals.
