How to reach Coonoor by train

The travelling option, which is relatively cheaper is to take a train to Coimbatore and then board the train to Mettupalayam. Mettupalayam is where the Nilgiri Mountain Railway starts from. Once you have reached Mettupalayam, you can board the train to Coonoor from there. The train travels uphill, and hence is slower to reach Coonoor, but the ride is one you will never forget. The major railhead near Coonoor is Coimbatore Junction, which has regular trains to all major cities of India.
