Chitradurga is a town located in Chitradurga district of Karnataka. Belonging to the southern part of the state, the town has various other names like Chitradurg, Chittaldurg and Chitrakaldurga. The place derives its name from Chitrakaldurga which means 'picturesque castle'.

Chitradurga is surrounded by valleys, huge rocks and boulders. The place has its mentions in Hindu scriptures like Ramayana and Mahabharatha. The archaeological traces of this place date back to 3rd millennium B.C.

Chitradurga is also popular for its stone fort Kallina Kote. The town is located around 202km to the northwest of Bengaluru.
