Residents in several parts of Karnataka's Chitradurga district will experience a four-day power outage from 9 to 12 July 2025. This disruption is due to infrastructure work involving the relocation of electricity poles. The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) has announced this temporary power cut.
The affected areas include Nellikatte, Mathighatta, and Todaranalu, which are all serviced by the Devarapura power station. The power supply will be interrupted as part of ongoing roadwork along the Mathighatta-Lingadahalli route. This project involves laying a cement concrete road, necessitating the relocation of electric poles.
Reason for Power Outage
BESCOM Assistant Executive Engineer Virupakshappa confirmed that the power cut is essential for road development and safety. "The works are essential for road development and safety, and that the power cut is unavoidable due to the shifting of poles," he stated. Residents are advised to make necessary arrangements during this period.
The planned disruption aims to facilitate smoother road construction by ensuring that electric poles do not obstruct the new pathway. This temporary inconvenience is deemed necessary for long-term benefits in infrastructure improvement.

Residents in Nellikatte, Mathighatta, and Todaranalu should prepare for this scheduled outage. BESCOM advises locals to plan accordingly during these four days to minimise inconvenience. The company assures that efforts are being made to complete the work efficiently.
