The Vijayanarayana Temple, Chamrajanagar

Located in the town of Gundlupet in Chamrajnagar district, the Vijayanarayana Temple was built by the Western Ganga dynasty in the 10th century. The temple has the statue of Vijayanarayana which was installed by the king Vishnuvardhana. The temple has received a lot of patronages from other kingdoms as well until the 15th century.

The walls at the entrance of the temple has Yalis carved and many more decorative carvings on the walls of the pillar. The temple has a sanctum and a vestibule, which connects the sanctum and the hall where prayers are offered by the devotees. There are decorative slender pillars inside the temple and the sculptures of Anantha, Garuda and Lord Hanuman can also be seen.
